About the owner:

My story:

Owner, Kelly Duff decided to create bodies enlightened to help other ladies who are struggling to feel confident in their own skin, and truly appreciate their bodies, without falling victim to misinformation or restrictive dieting.

In the world we live in today, there is so much pressure to have the “perfect” body, or to have a body that is what society considers to be, “desirable”. In my early teens, I remember feeling very unhappy and unconfident in the way that my body looked. I had always enjoyed being active, but because of the comments people were making, I decided I needed to “get some muscle”. I started going the gym regularly and hired a personal trainer. At first it was a really healthy thing for me, mentally and physically. I gave up fast food and really started seeing results, I.e flatter stomach, a little more definition etc. I was pretty happy with my results, so of course I kept going.

Slowly, overtime something that used to be healthy, slipped into a very unhealthy obsession…I began cutting out almost ALL carbs, and slowly decreasing my caloric intake to nearly nothing. Somehow, I was managing to train twice a day, nearly 7 days a week. As time passed I became more and more restrictive and more and more compulsive about my diet and exercise. After so much deprivation, my body just couldn’t take it anymore. I broke. I started binging on junk food and even began to purge for a period of time. My life was controlled by the way that I looked and by the foods that I ate.

Throughout the years of struggling with these habits, I graduated high school, became a certified personal trainer and finally went on to become a nurse. I had managed to stop binging and purging and was just eating very little, training about 5 days a week, and still TERRIFIED of carbs. I knew this lifestyle wasn’t ideal, but the all the info I got online seemed to endorse and encourage this mindset and approach when it came to nutrition. It’s wild cause the goal in the beginning was to GAIN muscle, but somehow the goal got lost in all the chaos that is, DIET CULTURE.

Fast forward a couple years, I began working as a nurse, with adolescents that had a primary diagnosis of eating disorder. It wasn’t until this time, that I was finally able to accept that I too, was battling an eating disorder. After seeing all that my patients went through, I knew I had to make a change. I decided to commit to healing my relationship with food and exercise and came up with a plan on how to do so. As nervous as I was about consuming “fear foods” or the possibility of “getting fat”, I decided to reintroduce foods into my diet…and let me tell you, I am SO GLAD I DID. Since then, I’ve increased my lean muscle mass and decreased my body fat percent, while simultaneously changing the way that I think about food and exercise. Committing to recovery was the best decision I’ve ever made. No more fear of eating certain foods, no more compulsive exercise…I am finally free to love and appreciate my body and shape for what it is.

And while sometimes I still struggle to feel confident, I can honestly say I’ve gained so much from the journey. I want to share this plan with other women, so they too, can feel beautiful, strong and confident. I want ladies to be able to regain control of their life so they can enjoy it!

My mission is to debunk all of the myths that diet culture puts into people’s minds. I want to show women that It’s not as complicated as the internet makes it seem, to be fit and healthy. I want to rid the world of restrictive diets and torturous workout regimens! I want to enlighten women and help them understand that food is not the enemy and exercise is not a punishment. I want to help you enlighten your mind and therefore, transform your body and LIFE. So weather you’ve struggled with an ED in the past, can’t stand Yo-yo dieting anymore, or just want a better quality of life, overall, my programs are HERE TO HELP.

Sending positive vibes your way,

xoxo, Kelly
